Foster also excels at giving us a wonderfully written glimpse at how two people choose to deal with devastating loss in their lives and how those choices affect those that they love most. As Jenna's mom and Pete's dad realize the sacrifices their children are making, both must decide what changes they must make not only for their children, but for their own happiness.
Series fans will be thrilled to get a little Braden action with a cameo visit from members of the Braden family. For fans of Foster, there is even better news when it is revealed that Pete has brothers and a sister. Yay! More Love in Bloom spin offs!

This book is aimed for the younger-than-thirty reader IMO. A group of girls summer at the shore each year. Two of them have already found love and two of them are still pining for men who seem to be in the 'friend zone' with them. Jenna is a confident, sexy woman but when she gets around Pete, she freezes up. Pete believes that this means that she has no interest in him. I got seriously annoyed at their antics. It was more like young teens with their first crushes than adults looking for a serious relationship. What saved the book for me was Pete's caring attitude for his alcoholic father and the way he shouldered the burden to protect his siblings. Jenna's mother was interesting, too. Her way of dealing with the aftermath of her divorce may not have been the best choice, but it turned out to be okay in the end. The author's writing is good. I recommend this book for readers mid-thirties or under.
Language (f-bombs) and sexual situations may offend some readers
Seaside Hearts is another emotional, funny and beautifully written story by Melissa Foster.
This time Jenna gets her chance at love after years pinning for her friend Pete.
I felt like this book gave me everything I've come to expect from Melissa Foster books. I laughed at the antics of Jenna and her friends. And I enjoyed the development of Jenna and Pete's relationship. Both these characters had their own family issues to deal with as well and their budding relationship is effected.
BJ Harrison returned as the narrator for this one and his soothing tones made this story a pleasure to listen to. He's got great variations for the different characters and I love that I can just listen and enjoy and know who's speaking even with one person doing all the voices.
I am really loving this whole series and look forward to the next book.
I am completely enamored with Melissa Foster's Seaside Summers series and Seaside Hearts was another fantastic book! I couldn't read this fast enough and already I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I loved the connection between Jenna and Pete and could feel the sizzle between them through my . I really enjoyed getting to know Jenna more and seeing her quirks such as being super organized and collecting rocks. The seaside setting was perfect and I could smell the salt air, hear the ocean waves and seagulls, and picture the beautiful scenes through the writing. Melissa Foster writes in such a way that makes the characters pop off the pages and seem as though they are truly human beings. I felt like I could easily be friends with Jenna, Bella, Amy,and Leanna and would have fun hanging out at a bonfire with the rest of the group. Besides being a beautifully-written love story, there is also some family drama which made the book that much more powerful. I was sad to see this book end but excited to start the next one in the series. Now that I've started reading Melissa Foster's books, I will be reading as many as I can! I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys wonderfully-written contemporary romance novels with some drama added into them. She has become one of my favorite authors!
3.5 stars. I missed the whole gang in this one. This is Jenna and Pete's story and it was good, the rest of the seaside community made appearances but we're few and not as fun as the first books. The girls did nothing funny or prankish, there were no late night chunky-dunking aka skinny dipping or drinking wine. Vera wasn't in this one and the story itself had a more intense subject with divorce, mid life crisis and alcoholism. It was still a good read I just miss the connection between the characters and myself of friendship of past and present.
I was hoping the next read would be Amy and Tony' s but alas it's Jamie's, even though he is more of a side character in this group of friends. Hesitant on moving on to his since he isn't in what I call the fab four girlfriends and wonder if his story like this one won't be as fun to read...decisions,decisions
